Getting Started
How to E-File in Texas
Texas courts require electronic filing for most civil cases. This guide walks through the complete process from start to submission.
What You'll Need
Before you begin, make sure you have the following ready:
- a registered e-filing account
- your case information (court, case type, parties)
- documents in PDF format
- a payment method for filing fees
Step-by-Step Guide
Create an account
Register with an Electronic Filing Service Provider (EFSP) like Honest Elf.
Select a court and case type
Choose the correct court location and the type of case you are filing.
Enter party information
Provide names and roles for all parties involved in the case.
Upload documents
Attach your court documents in PDF format with the correct filing codes.
Add service contacts
Specify who should receive electronic copies of the filing.
Review and submit
Confirm all details, pay the filing fee, and submit to the court.
After Submission
Once submitted, your filing enters the court clerk's review queue. The clerk will either accept or reject the filing. If accepted, your documents are officially entered into the court record and you'll receive stamped copies.
If rejected, you'll receive a notice with the reason and can correct and resubmit.
